Cacophony es una banda de música Estadounidense de la década de los 80' influenciada por un estilo speed metal combinándolo con un extremo virtuosismo en las guitarras, cuyos solos están basados en cortes neoclásicos. Liderada por Jason Becker, uno de los guitarristas más virtuosos dentro del Heavy Metal, más específicamente el metal neoclásico, y por Marty Friedman, virtuoso ex guitarrista de Megadeth. Hay que decir que si bien esta banda se mantuvo en un círculo "underground", esta marcó la pauta y el ocaso de la ultima época del heavy metal a finales de la década de los 80' junto con el estilo al cual aportaron indudablemente, el metal neoclásico. Esta banda no continuó componiendo debido a una temprana enfermedad de uno de sus importantes integrantes, Jason Becker, el cual contrajo esclerosis lateral amiotrófica (ALS, el mal de Lou Gehrig), un mal que lo afecta paralizándole e impidiéndole progresivamente el uso de su aparato motor, lo que llevó definitivamente a un brusco término de tan importante y prometedora banda.

V8 fue una banda de Heavy Metal de Argentina de la década de 1980 (1980 a 1987), y es junto a Riff uno de los primeros grupos que comienzan a destacar dentro de este género musical en Argentina. Grabaron 3 discos de estudio durante su existencia, y la mayoría de sus integrantes formó parte más adelante de otros grupos igualmente notables del Heavy Metal argentino. Entre ellos se destaca Ricardo Iorio, quien posee la trayectoria discográfia más extensa de los artistas del género en el país.

Banda nacional formada oficialmente el 16 de Mayo de 1987. Ese mismo año participan en el compilado de bandas chilenas "Infierno Rock" (CBS). Este trabajo además de actuaciones en vivo y televisión, llevaron al grupo en menos de un año a ser elegidos como el mejor Grupo Rock Chileno, Obteniendo el Laurel de oro 1987, máximo galardón que se entrega en Chile a los artistas nacionales e internacionales más destacados en las distintas manifestaciones del arte.

En noviembre de 1988 PANZER obtiene por segundo año consecutivo el Laurel de oro, como mejor Grupo Rock Chileno; ahora elegido con la más alta votación del evento (121.090 votos), consolidando así el título del Rock más Popular de Chile.

En 1989, PANZER lanza al mercado el álbum "Tierra de Metales" (Prodisc) que gracias al éxito obtenido es reeditado el año 1990 con una nueva carátula y además con una salida simultanea en diferentes países latinoamericanos, lo que posibilita que la banda se proyecte en los otros territorios de habla hispana. Esto se ve consolidado en el año 1991, en el álbum "Latinos y Metálicos" (Halley records), donde además participán las bandas más representativas de cada nación: Argentina, Chile (Panzer), Colombia, México, y España, para lo cual la banda viaja a buenos aires al lanzamiento oficial de la producción en el mítico Estadio de Obras (Diciembre 1991).
