Led Zeppelin es una banda de Rock del Reino Unido considerada una de las más importantes de ese género y una de las más populares durante la década de los setenta. Fue fundada en 1968 por el guitarrista Jimmy Page, quien había pertenecido a The Yardbirds, al incluir en su formación a John Paul Jones como bajista y teclista (al que Page conocía de trabajos anteriores con The Yardbirds), al vocalista Robert Plant y a John Bonham a la batería (que coincidió con Plant en The Band of Joy). Led Zeppelin presentó elementos de un amplio espectro de influencias, como el blues, rock and roll, el soul, la música celta, la música india, la árabe, el folk, el country e incluso el reggae. AC/DC, grupo de rock británico de origen australiano. Lo fundaron en 1973 en Sydney los hermanos Malcolm y Angus Young, junto con Bon Scott, Mark Evans y Phil Rudd. Han desarrollaron un sonido que se encuadra dentro del heavy metal influido por la música de The Rolling Stones. Sus explosivas actuaciones en directo se hicieron famosas desde un principio gracias, en gran medida, al extravagante estilo de su guitarrista principal, Angus Young, que siempre vestía con uniforme de colegial en los conciertos. En 1976 se trasladaron a Gran Bretaña (los hermanos Young habían nacido en Glasgow), e inmediatamente ocuparon los primeros puestos de ventas del país con discos como Let There Be Rock (1977) y Powerage (1978), a los que siguieron If You Want Blood You've Got It (1978) y el disco Highway to Hell (1979), del que se vendieron millones de copias. En febrero de 1980, el vocalista Bon Scott falleció por consumo excesivo de alcohol y fue sustituido por Brian Johnson, que pertenecía al grupo Geordie.

Aunque llegaron a Gran Bretaña en pleno auge del punk rock, en poco tiempo obtuvieron una enorme aceptación del gran público. El álbum Back in Black (1980) alcanzó el primer lugar en la lista de los discos más vendidos del país y les catapultó a Estados Unidos. En la segunda mitad de la década de 1980, una serie de acontecimientos personales hicieron creer que el grupo ya había pasado sus mejores momentos, aunque sus discos se mantuvieron en las listas de éxitos hasta la década de 1990. En 1993, el sencillo “Big Gun”, que utilizaron para la banda sonora de la película interpretada por Arnold Schwarzenegger El último gran héroe, de John McTiernan, alcanzó de nuevo las listas de los más vendidos en Gran Bretaña. En 1995 grabaron el disco Ballbreaker y en 2000 lanzaron Stiff Upper Lip, en el que proclaman su fidelidad al rock más rebelde.
